Everything you need to know about the Neo-Expressionist:

Fred Bugs is an Italian abstract artist known the most in the US for his spontaneous figurative drawings. Fred Bugs’ works are a mix of abstract art with childlike emotions, his way of making art is often called infantile primitivism/Neo Expressionism or simply pop art. He was born in 1997 in Bosa, a small village with 8,000 inhabitants in the province of Oristano in Sardinia. As Fred says, art has been a massive part of his life ever since he started making drawings in his school. He did so partly due to boredom and because he wasn’t much of an extroverted person with an edgy character. His art helped him get distracted from those almost interminable hours of economics lessons between the desks of that technical institute he attended.

    Some Significant Works Of Fred:

Fred Bugs’ works from the first decade of the 2000s to the current day are all characterized by continuous experimentation, imagination, and innovation. Throughout the years, Fred Bugs has also created many works, mainly on paper and cardboard, using pastels or mixed media. During this period his works became very popular especially the series of Buffo drawings.Seeing Fred’s work, one can easily recognize that these are his. He has a particular style and way of representing his work that distinguishes his work from the work of others. His artistic creations show a vision made up of figures which seem to come out from an unknown place and also the ones that tell contradictions and emotionality of the society. His choice of colors and the way he uses the color red in light or the darker shades of yellow, green, black and having an addition of light or sky blue shows you when you are looking at his craft: (he often represents abstract birds and dragons in colorful geometric places or landscapes).

    Popularity Achieved in recent times:

Despite all of the popularity achieved by Fred Bugs in recent years, thanks to his participation in a series of all exhibitions and international exhibitions held in Venice, Milano and Innsbruck .” And the other drawings using mixed media, Fred has risen above to show his work to the public. The European and American collecting public much more appreciates his style and very recognizable works, which is way more popular with the international public than with his own Italian public..but still, he is very much appreciated in his homeland. He keeps on giving importance to some values like knowledge against banality or a lack of human morality/ethics and emotively. There have been numerous times when his work made it to the attention of the great masses. His abstract work brings together geometric art, surrealism, and infantile/pop figures. He has been drawing for ten years, making his work recognizable on all platforms.

The artist’s artistic influences concern all European abstract figurative art of the first half of 1900′, especially Catalan surrealist art of that period. Much importance is also given by Fred Bugs to the so called post pop art, a 1970s neo expressionist art movement of peaceful protest/provocation with ideas that concerned a more economically and socially balanced society. Latest news about the artist The artist’s latest project is about painting graffiti style of his recently purchased apartment in Venice (Italy) Mestre area, where you can admire his popular figures such as The walking dragons and other peculiar figures depicted on the facades of his house.
