The Decline of Poetry Books: A Loss for Literature

In today’s fast-paced world, where social media platforms and streaming platforms dominate everyone’s attention, the world of literature is on the decline, especially in terms of the popularity of poetry books. Once respected as a form of artistic expression and a means of exploring human emotions, poetry books are now struggling to find their place in today’s times.

One of the biggest reasons behind such a big decline is the shift towards visual and audio mediums for entertainment, while poetry has taken a backseat among readers. With the rise of platforms like Instagram and TikTok, most readers prefer quick content over the impactful and deep nature of poetry.

On the other hand, the publishing industry itself is impacting hard with the decline in demand for poetry books, which is why budgets are shrinking and profit margins are reducing. Undoubtedly, it is one of the worst things for poets who wish to make their living by writing poems.

However, the hope is not all lost, as by supporting poets and their works, we can help protect this important art form for future generations. By recognizing the value of poetry books and promoting them to people around us, we can celebrate their beauty and power.
