The planet Mercury holds great significance in Indian astrology as it is connected to communication, intelligence, and wit. Known as Budh in Sanskrit, the plaent is associated with qualities of logic, business acumen, and adaptability.

Mercury is the closest planet to the Sun, and it is often seen closer to the Sun in the chart. In Vedic astrology, Mercury is considered a benefic planet because it brings good communication and writing skills and makes one a great communicator. The planet plays a key role in one’s chart, as it is the planet of communication and intelligence.

There are quite a few professions associated with the planet Mercury, such as teachers, writers, orators, and diplomats. It also governs the realms of commerce, trade, and business, giving a person a good understanding of business and business-oriented skills.

On the other side, if Mercury is afflicted in one’s chart, it can lead to communication challenges, misunderstandings, and intellectual confusion. However, it is said Mercury behaves on the basis of which planet it is sitting with. To strengthen the Mercury in one’s life, astrologers often suggest remedies such as chanting mantras dedicated to Lord Vishnu, Lord Ganesha, and many more.
