HELLO AUTHOR MICHELLE NOBLE, WELCOME TO WORLDAUTHORS.ORG! CAN YOU TELL US ABOUT YOUR JOURNEY TO CONNECTING WITH THE GODDESS?
As a kid, I was mostly exposed to Lutheran and Methodist traditions that didn’t focus much on the divine feminine. Still, I was always intrigued by the mystery and the magical. I felt a deep sense of peace and power in nature.
Though I was drawn to stories of goddesses and intuitively aware of the difference between feminine and masculine energies of creation, leadership, and relationship, even now, I’ve only dipped my toe in the water of really getting to know different aspects of the Goddess. It was sort of funny, then, that as soon as I saw the invitation to write for  Stories of the Goddess, I knew I wanted to be part of the book!
As I describe in my chapter, I first thought I would write about the Earth Mother as a teacher on how we as mothers can show up as more of ourselves for our children. It turned out that the Goddess had something slightly different in mind!

HOW HAS EMBODYING THE ESSENCE OF THE DIVINE FEMININE IMPACTED YOUR LIFE AND WORK?
Throughout my life, and like most women, I have been exposed to many judgments and definitions of what femininity is supposed to look like. As a girl, I would see examples in books or media or how other girls behaved and what was rewarded, and I would try to be that. When I became a woman, I judged my body, work, and relationships by trying to be a good daughter, friend, sister, lover, healer, and wife. When I became a mother, I tried to be a mother like my own mother and looked incessantly to outside resources to understand how to get motherhood right. It’s taken me a long time, and it’s still a day-to-day choice, to get that embodying the essence of the divine feminine means embodying my essence, even the aspects of myself I have judged as less desirable or “appropriate”.
At i.” core, that is the path I facilitate my clients along as well. Most of them come to me asking, “What am I supposed to do and be? What’s wrong with me, and why can’t I get this motherhood thing right?” As they work with me, they begin to ask different questions, like, “If I was truly being me, what would I choose?”, “What’s right about this, and what is the beautiful energy underneath?” and “What gift am I to my children that I have not acknowledged?”

CAN YOU OFFER ANY ADVICE TO WOMEN JUST STARTING THEIR JOURNEY WITH THE GODDESS?
There is a concept in psychology called “confirmation bias.” We tend to seek evidence of what we have already decided is true. As you begin to explore the different aspects of the goddess, what if you looked beyond what you are hoping to see and were open to the unexpected?
One of the beautiful things about studying goddesses and looking at how the energies of the divine feminine have been honored, exploited, worshiped, and attacked throughout history is it shows that what we take for granted now as normal and true was not necessarily considered normal or true in other cultures or times. It helps us recognize we have choices available in expressing our feminine energies and potency beyond the models we see in our families, communities, and cultures.

HOW DO YOU INTEGRATE YOUR FEMININE POWER AND WISDOM INTO YOUR PERSONAL AND PROFESSIONAL LIFE?
A question I’ve been playing with a question recently: “If I was willing to be more like Nature and less like a human being with this, what choices would I have?”
As human beings, we get so caught up in trying to control outcomes, manage risk, and stay within the lines of the acceptable. We judge some energies as “bad” and others as “good.” We think about creating safety and comfort and lead with our minds.
Nature doesn’t have that point of view. Nature doesn’t try to fix anything or anyone. Nature is Less about safety and predictability and more about constant change, adaptation, and creation, even when it includes destruction or death.
So, to give a practical example, say I’m overwhelmed by my three-page to-do list, and I don’t know where to start. If I ask, “If I was willing to be more like Nature with this, what would I choose?” then the significance of getting it right, handling everyone’s needs, and being a “good” mom, wife, businesswoman, etc., falls away.
The one or two items required right now to create and change spring into focus. I can choose from the energy of creation, self-nurturing, and birthing the future versus obligation, problem-solving, and risk management.
One could change the question in any way to clarify choosing from feminine power and wisdom, such as, “If I was more like Freyja or Tara or Athena with this, what choices would I have?” Or perhaps better yet, “If I was more the Goddess I truly be with this, what could I choose?”

CAN YOU SHARE YOUR THOUGHTS ON THE ROLE OF THE DIVINE FEMININE IN CREATING A BETTER WORLD?
In our present time, human beings have created a world that is very much about the polarity of getting things right or judging things as wrong. There is a lot of competition and comparing to see who’s right, what’s right, and prove like crazy that we’re not the ones who are wrong. All of that creates separation.
If you’re always trying to get everything right and prove you’re right, while secretly being afraid you’re wrong, you have to separate from your true being to measure all conclude whether you are succeeding. If the first thing you do when you meet someone is trying to define them so you can decide if they share your points of view and if it’s safe to connect with them, that’s also separation.
One of the most potent elements of the divine feminine is oneness. Oneness isn’t about sameness or rightness or only the comfortable and acceptable. If we’re willing to stop rejecting ourselves first, we’ll also be able to give up the polarity of right and wrong and see the choices that would create a better world.

HOW DO YOU SEE THE GODDESS RISING TODAY?
For a long time, the energies of the Goddess and the divine feminine have been treated as a nice adjunct to the “more important” energies of productivity, dominance, and control.
Like, “Your magic and communion are cute, honey, but we gotta put food on the table and secure the perimeter.” That point of view is starting to crack – we’re seeing empathy training in corporations. Everyone now acknowledges that self-compassion and nurturing ourselves are important. Though mostly the world still functions from fight, polarity, and judgment, people are questioning whether the status quo is actually working for themselves or the planet. What you see, especially in young people, is that the division of masculine and feminine, and the cult of the masculine ideal, is melting and becoming irrelevant.
The more we can all draw from all energies, including the potency of the goddess that can be kindness, gentleness, or fierceness, the more choices we have and the more possibilities become available for us, the future, and the World.

CAN YOU SPEAK TO THE IMPORTANCE OF SISTERHOOD AND COMMUNITY IN THE JOURNEY OF THE GODDESS?’
The biggest issue I see with the Mamas I work with as clients is they come to me already having decided they are wrong. They are a problem and need to be fixed. Competition and comparison have been used to splinter feminine power and turn us against each other. When women, and people in general, are willing to drop their points of view, let their barriers down, and be vulnerable, there is a tremendous possibility to reflect to each other the beautiful energy that we are.
It is also harder to judge someone else than it is to judge yourself, so when you see another woman you honor and respect struggling with the same things you are, perhaps you can give yourself more grace. I often invite my clients to expand and look at themselves and their choices as if they were looking at a friend. Ultimately, we each have to have our own back, but it is easier to do that when you know a trusted sister has your back, too! Get your copy.

WHAT DO YOU HOPE READERS WILL TAKE AWAY FROM YOUR STORIES OF THE GODDESS CHAPTER?
I hope that they will see that when they chop off parts of themselves to be “good” or “acceptable”, they deny their own inner goddess. And when they deny her, they take something precious away from themselves and their children. When you are willing to be all of you and bring whatever energy is required, even the intense or uncomfortable parts, you become a powerful creator in your own life, you are more present with your kids, and you truly invite your children to be their whole and magnificent selves.

HOW DO YOU FEEL ABOUT THE OVERALL EXPERIENCE OF BEING A PART OF THE STORIES OF THE GODDESS BOOK PROJECT AND WORKING WITH RADHAA PUBLISHING HOUSE?

WHAT ADVICE DO YOU HAVE FOR OTHER AUTHORS LOOKING TO COLLABORATE WITH A PUBLISHING HOUSE AND GET THEIR WORK PUBLISHED?
Before I signed on to the project, I looked around at several collaborative book programs through other publishers. It was clear that Radhaa Publishing does an exceptional job successfully promoting its books and the authors who work with them. If you have a big message or purpose, if you have wisdom and experience to share, and if you have always desired to become a published author but didn’t know how to go forward successfully, I would highly recommend working with Radhaa.
