An Interview with Young Author Sofia Nova
Sofia Nova is a young fiction-fantasy author, based out of the United States. She celebrated 2020 with the publication of her latest book, “The Secret of Moon Lake”. It is currently available on Amazon. She is passionate about writing and loves encouraging others to follow their dreams.

Hi Sofia! Thanks for taking the time to chat with us. What inspired you to write “The Secret of Moon Lake”?
As a young author, it was truly a long journey for me to write this book. The strangest thing happened to me one summer, though. I had very peculiar dreams… and every night, these dreamed added up together… until I dreamed of the ending that took me by surprise.
I had my ideas and inspiration in my head, but then it took me at least two years to write it down on paper! I was constantly distracted. I dealt with writer’s block. I focused on my family, as well as getting my college degree. However, time was what aligned this story into perfection. I would write and then go back and change it again. Then I would sit down with a clear mindset and see something that I wouldn’t have seen prior. So in the end, I don’t regret anything. Quality takes time… and that’s what I gave my story. Time.
What do you want people to understand about your work?
When I sit down and write my stories and ideas, there is always that consideration in mind of how my stories can inspire my readers. I hope my stories serve as an escape from reality, are an enjoyable read and encourages my readers to follow their dreams! To achieve this would be my greatest gratification.
Do you have plans for future work?
Of course! Writing is my passion… I am currently working on another fiction-fantasy novel. Unfortunately, I won’t be able to disclose any details as of yet. However, I will make sure to announce the completion on my social media… once everything is aligned. So many sure you follow me.
How do you stay focused? Do you deal with writer’s block?
I get asked this question a lot… When I encounter writer’s block, I remove myself from my current environment and take a moment to myself. I try to meditate in nature, read, listen to music or take a walk outside. Even putting my work aside, going out with friends or traveling has helped me.
Encountering writer’s block means that you’re stuck and need to change your mindset… when you are happy, you are inspired. So do what makes you happy and then you will overcome writer’s block.
What is it like to work with your mother?
It’s actually quite wonderful! My mother and I have such a great relationship. We talk to each other about almost everything. She was actually one of the first people to encourage me to write! When I came to her from creative writing class, back in middle school, I showed her an essay I wrote. She was so enthusiastic about illustrating my story, that she immediately sat down and began painting what I envisioned. It’s one thing to write a story, but it’s a totally different level when your stories actually come to life! I am so grateful to be blessed with such an encouraging mother. She is an inspiration.
What would you like to share with your followers?
I would like to tell all my followers to never give up. No matter what! When you fail, you’re given a second chance to succeed… and this time, you can do it even better. Envision your future and stay positive. You’re only given one chance at life, so make the most out of every opportunity!
