46th International Kolkata Book Fair to be Inaugurated by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and Spanish Officials

The 46th International Kolkata Book Fair is set to take place on January 30, with Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, Maria Jose Galvez Salvador of the Spanish Ministry of Culture and Sports, and Bengali author Shirshendu Mukhopadhyay in attendance for the inauguration.

Spain is the theme country for this year’s fair, which will feature over 900 stalls and nine entry and exit gates, including a replica of the Toledo Gate in Spain. The fair will also include a “buy books and win a book library” contest, an android app to help locate stalls, and Metro service on two Sundays to make it easier for visitors to reach the fairground. The fair will run from January 31 to February 12 and is being digitally supported by Sister Nivedita University.

In addition to the book fair, there will also be a number of cultural events and workshops taking place throughout the duration of the fair. Visitors can expect to find a wide range of literary genres, from fiction to poetry to non-fiction, as well as books for all ages. The fair will also feature a children’s section where young readers can find age-appropriate literature, as well as a section dedicated to comics and graphic novels. In addition, there will be a number of author meet-and-greets, book signings, and panel discussions, providing an opportunity for readers to interact with their favorite authors and gain insights into the writing process.
