In recent times, the literary world has gone through a huge change with the rise of self-publishing. There was a time when publishing was dominated by traditional publishing houses; however, the world of books has become more democratic now with self-publishing.

    The Evolution of Self-Publishing

Self-publishing is not a new concept, but it has become more noticeable in the late 20th and early 21st centuries. With the demand of print-on-demand services and e-books, platforms like Amazon Kindle Direct Publishing (KDP), Smashwords, and IngramSpark have made it easier for authors to publish their work without a literary agent or a traditional publisher.

    Creative Control

One of the best advantages of self-publishing is the level of control an author can have over their work. Writers can make decisions about every aspect of their book on their own, which includes everything from cover design to formatting to promotion strategies. This allows authors to speak their voice without any compromise to their vision.

    Higher Royalties

Self-published authors earn higher royalties compared to traditional publishing. While traditional publishers offer royalties between 10% and 15%, self-publishing platforms can give authors royalties of 70% or more on e-book sales. The income range increases to a big level in the case of self-published authors.
