Fans of the beloved fantasy series A Court of Thorns and Roses have plenty to celebrate. Bestselling author Sarah J. Maas has officially announced that two new books from the ACOTAR universe are coming soon.
Maas shared the exciting news during an appearance on the popular podcast Call Her Daddy. The next book in the series is scheduled for release on October 27, 2026, with a second coming soon after on January 12, 2027.
Maas said the story ended up much bigger than she first thought. As she worked on the manuscript, the narrative grew so large that it couldn’t fit in a single book. So, she decided to split it into several parts.
She described the project as a big story that naturally divided into four main sections. The first part is about 400 pages long. As she kept writing, the second and third parts also got quite long, so the whole story was too big for just one book.
Because of this, the publisher decided to release the books close together so readers won’t have to wait long to get the full story. Maas said she didn’t want fans to finish the first book and then wait a whole year for the next. She wanted the story to feel like one continuous adventure.
Maas also shared that she found a lot of inspiration while spending time in Montana. She joked that the area around Big Sky felt like an energy vortex that helped unlock the story in her mind. Once the idea came together, the writing went quickly.
The upcoming books will form one big story rather than separate standalone parts. Maas said the books are meant to be read together as a single sweeping tale.
For ACOTAR fans, this means a lot of new content coming soon. With two books releasing just months apart, readers can look forward to an exciting return to one of the most popular fantasy worlds of the past decade.
