American Authors, the New York-based pop-rock band best known for their global smash “Best Day of My Life”, have returned with a brand-new single titled “Race Car.”
American Authors have over 1 billion streams and their triple-platinum RIAA-certified single “Best Day of My Life,” was #11 on the Billboard Hot 100 and has been featured in hundreds of films, commercials, and TV shows. The band further has toured alongside OneRepublic, The Revivalists, and O.A.R., and performed at iconic festivals like Lollapalooza and Reading & Leeds.
The track, described by frontman Zac Barnett as a song about “momentary love and falling for someone fast even though you know it’s only going to last a season,” captures the rush of fleeting romance. Built around warm guitar riffs, layered harmonies, and infectious rhythms, “Race Car” delivers the kind of anthemic energy that has become the band’s signature.
Since forming in 2006 at Berklee College of Music, American Authors – Barnett (vocals/guitar), Dave Rublin (bass), and Matt Sanchez (drums) -have carved out a reputation for crafting feel-good, hopeful anthems. Their 2014 debut album Oh, What a Life produced the multi-platinum hit “Best Day of My Life,” which reached No. 11 on the Billboard Hot 100 and went on to be featured in more than 600 films, commercials, and television shows.
Over the years, the band has toured globally with acts including OneRepublic, O.A.R., The Revivalists, and Andy Grammer, while performing at major festivals such as Lollapalooza and Reading & Leeds.
Reflecting on their journey, bassist Dave Rublin said, “I don’t think anyone knew how special ‘Best Day of My Life’ really was when we first wrote it. It just kept snowballing from TV to commercials, then one day into a number one record.”
Now with the release of “Race Car,” the band continues to explore new sounds while staying true to their uplifting ethos. As Barnett explains, “We’ve never been afraid to explore new musical genres, but we always try to maintain a message of hope in our music.”
“Race Car” is available to stream now on Spotify, Apple Music, and YouTube.
