New York–based singer-songwriter ROREY has released her latest single and music video, “Temporary Tragedy.” This emotional bedroom pop track explores the pain, clarity, and strength found in choosing oneself after heartbreak.
Raw and intimate, the song explores what ROREY calls “the cost of self-abandonment when you cling to intimacy.” At its core, “Temporary Tragedy” is about recognizing when love becomes harmful and finding the courage to walk away.
ROREY explained that the track reflects the emotional struggle of maintaining relationships where connection remains, but understanding and growth are absent.
“The song is about the cost of self abandonment when you grip intimacy and what it means to choose yourself,” she explained.
The cinematic music video adds depth to the story. Inspired by ROREY’s first queer relationship, the visuals portray the emotional spirals and reflection that often follow a breakup. Although deeply personal, the message resonates beyond a single experience.
“Sometimes love isn’t enough to bridge the gap between hope and reality,” ROREY said. “Especially when the other person can’t meet you where you are.”
ROREY is recognized for transforming emotional vulnerability into music that is both unsettling and comforting. Her work addresses mental health struggles directly, bringing them to light through haunting melodies, dreamy vocals, and hypnotic production.
Her sophomore EP, “Dysphoria,” co-written and produced with longtime collaborator Scott Effman, boldly explores mental illness, capturing the confusion, intensity, and beauty of navigating life during a manic episode. The project blends ethereal soundscapes with personal storytelling, reflecting an artist searching for meaning amid emotional chaos.
ROREY’s honesty and artistry have received praise from leading voices in music and culture, including Zane Lowe, LADYGUNN, and Atwood Magazine.
Her songs have also been featured on popular Spotify editorial playlists such as:

More than just songs, ROREY’s music feels like a conversation — naming feelings many struggle to express. Through tracks like “Temporary Tragedy,” she offers comfort, connection, and the quiet understanding that no one is alone in their pain.
With each release, ROREY continues to establish herself as an artist unafraid to be vulnerable, honest, and authentic.
