HEY REESE, WELCOME TO WORLDAUTHORS.ORG! IT’S A PLEASURE TO HAVE YOU HERE. HOW ARE YOU FEELING AS YOU PREPARE TO RELEASE “FEELS LIKE A DAY”?
Hi! Thank you for having me. I am so excited. I really love this new song and the direction I am taking my music.
YOUR MUSIC OFTEN FEELS LIKE A STORY UNFOLDING. WHEN YOU APPROACH SONGWRITING, DO YOU THINK LIKE A WRITER FIRST OR A MUSICIAN FIRST?
Thank you for saying that. I feel like I am a writer first. I usually know a direction I want to go with a song and have lyrics written. I work with a great team to create a basic beat for my lyrics and then we build from there.
“FEELS LIKE A DAY” CAPTURES THE ESSENCE OF NEW LOVE BEAUTIFULLY. CAN YOU WALK US THROUGH HOW THIS IDEA FIRST TOOK SHAPE—WAS IT A MOMENT, A FEELING, OR A MEMORY?
I remember, I was sitting with my producer and I said I want to make a song about my boyfriend. A lot of my songs are written about him, yet this one felt different from the start.

YOU CO-WROTE THIS TRACK WITH MATTHEW BENTO. WHAT DOES COLLABORATION ADD TO YOUR STORYTELLING THAT MIGHT NOT EMERGE WHEN WRITING ALONE?
Matthew is awesome to work with. I look forward to working with him for a long time to come. His experience and insight add to the overall depth of a song that I am still learning as a young artist and writer. We make a great team.
YOUR LYRICS CARRY A CINEMATIC QUALITY. DO YOU CONSCIOUSLY VISUALIZE SCENES WHILE WRITING, ALMOST LIKE SCRIPTING A FILM?
Yes! It is exactly like that. I am also a working actress. Telling the story visually and taking the listener on a journey in their mind is an important part of my fans connecting with me.
MANY ASPIRING WRITERS STRUGGLE WITH AUTHENTICITY. HOW DO YOU ENSURE YOUR SONGS STAY EMOTIONALLY HONEST WHILE STILL BEING RELATABLE TO A WIDE AUDIENCE?
I think being authentic to who one is… is the key. My fans want to know who I am. I try to share as much of me as I can while still keeping things private. Write about what you know… your life. Your audience will find you.
YOU MENTIONED THAT LOVE DOESN’T ALWAYS BEGIN WITH LOGIC. HOW IMPORTANT IS INTUITION IN YOUR CREATIVE WRITING PROCESS?
I think intuition is the most important in my writing process. We live in a world that is largely “fake” and AI generated. Though I want my music to be successful, I need to write for myself, not for commercial viability. When the two things intersect, then that’s a win!

WITH NINE SINGLES NOW RELEASED, HOW HAS YOUR VOICE AS A STORYTELLER EVOLVED SINCE YOUR DEBUT “GOOD LIFE”?
Omgsh! Where do I begin… First of all, my voice has changed. I was 11 years old when I recorded Good Life. I went from talking to other writers so they could understand the kind of song I wanted to writing the songs myself. My confidence has grown in my writing and I am better able to convey what I want to say in my music. Consistent training and working with amazing people have helped me to grow overall as an artist.
FOR YOUNG WRITERS AND ARTISTS READING THIS, WHAT IS ONE PRINCIPLE ABOUT STORYTELLING OR SONGWRITING THEY SHOULD HOLD ONTO AS THEY GROW?
Just do it! Like Nike… LOL One does not get better unless they do it over and over again. So, start writing! Surround yourself with people better than you. Grow and learn from them but don’t ever give up your power. Run your own sessions.
