The trailer of Lokah – Chapter One: Chandra, the much-awaited superhero drama from Dulquer Salmaan’s Wayfarer Films, has set social media abuzz ahead of its grand worldwide release on August 28, coinciding with Onam celebrations.
Written and directed by Dominic Arun, the film marks the beginning of a new superhero cinematic universe in Malayalam cinema under the title Lokah. The trailer, spanning over two minutes, introduces audiences to Chandra (played by Kalyani Priyadarshan), a mysterious young woman with a hidden identity.
Chandra, who is seen doing odd jobs to make ends meet, is under police suspicion for alleged shady dealings. However, her neighbour Sunny (played by Premalu star Naslen) discovers that she is far from ordinary; she possesses extraordinary powers that could change their lives forever.
The star-studded cast also features Tamil actor Sandy as Inspector Nachiyappa Gowda, Chandu as Venu, Arun Kurian as Nigel, Shanti Balachandran, and Sharafudheen in pivotal roles.
Sharing the trailer on X (formerly Twitter), producer-actor Dulquer Salmaan wrote: “Enter the world of Lokah. Trailer of Lokah, Chapter 1: Chandra out now.”
The film’s technical team boasts some of the industry’s finest, with Nimish Ravi as cinematographer, Jakes Bejoy composing the music, Chaman Chacko handling editing, and Banglan helming production design.
Distribution has been planned on a massive scale across India: Wayfarer Films in Kerala, AGS Cinemas in Tamil Nadu, Lighter Buddha Films in Karnataka, Sithara Entertainments in Telugu-speaking states, and Pen Marudhar in North India.
With its cutting-edge visuals, gripping narrative, and the promise of a homegrown superhero, Lokah – Chapter One: Chandra is poised to be one of the most ambitious Onam releases in recent years.
