Some stories are not just written, they are lived, felt, and reflected upon through every season of life. For Joyce Wambua Osborne, that journey spans continents, roles, and deeply personal transformations. From her roots in Kenya to building a life in the United States, Joyce brings a rare blend of financial expertise, emotional intelligence, and storytelling depth to everything she does.
A finance professional, speaker, and author of Seasons of Me, Joyce writes from a place of honesty and introspection. Her experiences, especially navigating motherhood, migration, and personal growth, have shaped a voice that resonates with authenticity and purpose. At the heart of her work lies a powerful belief that life unfolds in seasons, each one carrying lessons that define who we become.
In this conversation, Joyce opens up about her journey, the inspiration behind her writing, and her mission to encourage others to embrace their own stories with courage and clarity.
HELLO JOYCE, WELCOME TO WORLDAUTHORS.ORG! COULD YOU TELL US A BIT ABOUT YOURSELF?
My name is Joyce Wambua Osborne. I’m a finance professional by training—I hold an MBA and am also a CPA. Alongside my work in finance, I’m a writer, speaker, and the author of Seasons of Me.
Above all, I’m a proud boy mom, which is one of the roles that shapes me the most. Both my work and my writing come from a place of reflection—thinking deeply about life, growth, and how the different seasons we experience shape who we become.
WHERE ARE YOU FROM, AND WHERE DO YOU CURRENTLY LIVE?
I was born and raised in Kenya, and I spent most of my teenage years in our family home in Lang’ata, a suburb of Nairobi. That period really shaped who I am today.
Later, I moved to the United States to pursue my master’s degree. I currently live in Delaware, but Kenya will always be home. I make it a point to visit at least once a year to reconnect with my family and the place that raised me.
WHAT DO YOU ENJOY DOING IN YOUR SPARE TIME?
I’m actually quite active in my spare time. I love trying new things and experiencing life in different ways. Whether it’s dancing, traveling, exploring new cultures, sightseeing, hiking, or even doing menu tastings at different restaurants—I’m always curious to try something new.
For me, life is about experiencing as much of the world as possible.
CAN YOU SHARE A BIT ABOUT YOUR JOURNEY AND HOW YOU GOT TO WHERE YOU ARE TODAY?
My journey has really been one of reflection and rediscovery. One of the most defining seasons of my life was moving to the United States while I was seven months pregnant. That was honestly the toughest season of my life.
Being in a new country, navigating pregnancy, and building a life from scratch was incredibly challenging. But that experience also taught me something very powerful—that people are everything. Your community, your relationships, your support system truly matter.
There’s a Swahili saying that captures this perfectly: “Watu ni Mali,” which means people are wealth. That season showed me the true meaning of the idea that your network is your net worth.
IF YOU HAD TO DESCRIBE YOURSELF IN THREE WORDS, WHAT WOULD THEY BE?
Joyful, resilient, and curious.

WHAT INSPIRES YOU IN YOUR WORK AND LIFE?
What inspires me most is the desire to live a truly fulfilled life. I believe life is meant to be lived fully—even through the difficult seasons.
I also want to inspire others to keep going, because it does get better. It may take time, but things do work out—you just have to keep your head above water in the meantime.
My children also inspire me deeply. I want them to grow up knowing that they should live their lives for themselves and give it their absolute best.
That said, ever since Seasons of Me came out, the book has become the quickest way to start a conversation with me.
Share something that our audience might not know about you.
Something people might not know about me is how much I genuinely love mentoring others. I find a lot of fulfillment in encouraging people, sharing lessons from my own journey, and helping others navigate their paths.
And of course, I absolutely love traveling and exploring new places whenever I get the chance.
HOW DID YOU GET STARTED IN WRITING?
It’s actually a funny story. I originally started writing because I wanted my great-grandchildren—who I may never meet—to know something about me and my life. I wanted to leave a piece of my story behind.
But the more I wrote, the more I realized how therapeutic the process was. Writing allowed me to work through unresolved feelings and reflect on different moments in my life.
Ultimately, I want to leave a legacy. I don’t want to be just a name in my family tree—I want to be a story.
WHAT ARE YOU CURRENTLY PROMOTING OR WORKING ON?
Right now, I’m continuing to share my book Seasons of Me and the conversations it sparks around identity, growth, and the different seasons we all experience in life.
I’m also engaging in speaking opportunities and discussions that encourage people to reflect on their journeys.
CAN YOU TELL US ABOUT THE INSPIRATION BEHIND YOUR BOOK?
The inspiration behind Seasons of Me came from reflecting on the many seasons of my own life—the highs, the challenges, and the moments of growth in between.
Life isn’t a straight line; it moves in seasons. The book is my way of sharing those reflections and encouraging readers to embrace their own journeys.
ARE YOU WORKING ON ANY NEW PROJECTS OR IDEAS?
Yes, I’m currently exploring new avenues, including the possibility of a sequel to Seasons of Me. It’s still in development, but I’m excited about the ideas and reflections that could grow from it.
I’m also working on an audiobook version of Seasons of Me—more details coming soon.
WHAT ARE YOUR GOALS AND ASPIRATIONS MOVING FORWARD?
Moving forward, I’d love to see more people take ownership of their stories and share them. Every story matters, and every voice deserves to be heard.
My hope is that through my work, more people will feel encouraged to reflect on their lives and tell their own stories.
