One of India’s most renowned authors, Chetan Bhagat is the author of the bestselling book Five Point Someone. Bhagat is known for his simple writing style, relatable characters, and engrossing storytelling. Other than an author, he is also a columnist and YouTuber. Born in 1974, Chetan Bhagat has published many bestselling books, including Half Girlfriend, 2 States, Revolution 2020, The Girl in Room 105, among others.

Published in 2004, Five Point Someone quickly became a bestseller and is one of the most popular books in contemporary Indian English literature. The novel connects with the youth of India, focusing on their struggles, aspirations, and realities of college life.

Hari, Ryan, and Alok are the three main characters of Five Point Someone. They are roommates and are preparing for the exam of the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT). The title ‘Five Point Someone’ refers to a grading system in IIT.

One of the major themes of Five Point Someone is the commentary on the Indian education system, which is often criticized for prioritizing learning over critical thinking and creativity. The novel remains a key work in contemporary Indian literature, highlighting the aspirations and challenges of youngsters.
