Prime Video is adding to its lineup of book-to-screen adaptations with Boys of Tommen, a romantic drama based on the popular novels by Irish author Chloe Walsh.
The series, inspired by the BookTok trend and New York Times best-sellers, will share Walsh’s love story with viewers in over 240 countries and territories. It comes from the producers of The Summer I Turned Pretty, Twilight, and One Day, showing Prime Video’s ongoing focus on young-adult and romance stories.
What Is ‘Boys of Tommen’ About?
Season one will adapt the first two novels in the series, Binding 13 and Keeping 13, focusing on the forbidden romance between Johnny Kavanagh and Shannon Lynch.
Johnny is Tommen College’s golden boy, a rising rugby star close to a professional career. Shannon is the shy new girl trying to fit in at the private school in Ballylaggin, Ireland. Both have secrets: Johnny is hiding an injury that could end his career, and Shannon is dealing with a difficult and violent home life.
As they grow closer, the two teens from different backgrounds find comfort and strength in each other, facing issues like mental health, bullying, trauma, and resilience.
Poppy Cogan (A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder) will lead the adaptation as head writer and executive producer. Chloe Walsh will also be an executive producer, helping keep the story emotionally true to the books.
Walsh thanked readers for their support and stressed the importance of telling the story faithfully. Prime Video executives agreed, saying the depth and intensity of Johnny and Shannon’s romance is key to the adaptation.
The show will be produced by the independent studio wiip, working with Amazon MGM Studios and getting extra support from Metropolitan.
When Will It Premiere?
There is no official release date yet, but Boys of Tommen will premiere only on Prime Video as part of Amazon MGM Studios’ growing international lineup.
