As today is the joyous festival Krishna Janmashtami, devotees are celebrating the birth of Lord Krishna. Celebrated with great enthusiasm, festivity, and spiritual aspects, Krishna Janmashtami is filled with celebrations, rituals, and a deep sense of spiritual community. Here are things you must do on Krishna Janmashtami:

    Fasting and Spiritual Cleansing

Many devotees prefer fasting on Krishna Janmashtami, as it is considered a way to purify the mind and body. One can opt for a complete fast or consume only fruits and milk products. The fast lasts until midnight, basically the moment Lord Krishna is believed to be born.

    Sing Bhajans and Kirtans

Music is one of the imperative parts of Krishna Janmashtami celebrations. One can gather in a temple or at home and sing bhajans and participate in Kirtans. The communal participation and singing on Krishna Janmashtami makes a joyful atmosphere and increases spiritual energy.

    Prepare Traditional Delicacies

On the auspicious day of Krishna Janmashtami, it is considered a good omen to prepare food items that Lord Krishna loves. Food items like white makhan (butter), kheer (rice pudding), and various other sweets are commonly made at home during the festival. It is good to share these delicacies with family and friends.
