NASHVILLE, TENN. – Folk duo Haunted Like Human – Dale Chapman (they/them) and Cody Clark (he/him) –  “carefully crafted songs might touch on stories of gods and magical creatures,” (-Americana UK), but the latest single “Appaloosa,” dispels the myth of the perfect woman.

“She is messy in her musings, but all she touches turns to gold,” Chapman sings over the soaring fiddle and banjo. It’s the perfect rendering of an imperfect woman being treated like a goddess.

“‘Appaloosa’ is a song about falling in love with someone you believe is far better than you. The main character sees themselves as a screw up in a lot of ways, but they know that their partner makes them a better person,” explains Chapman.

It is the latest single from the forthcoming album American Mythology, a shapely set of songs that borrow from universal lore in order to reveal intimate truths available on October 17, 2025.

The duo are currently on a U.S. tour and will celebrate the album with a hometown show in Nashville at City Winery on Wednesday, October 8. Full list of tour dates below.

“a promise of more to come as the duo explores what it means to be human through the lens of gods, beasts and demons.” –  EARMILK

“Within region and place there’s the pinpoint of family – that’s what Haunted Like Human celebrates here in this sparsely arranged, vocally pristine folk song [‘Family Name’].”
