Amazon has launched Kindle Translate, an AI-powered translation service that helps Kindle Direct Publishing (KDP) authors share their eBooks with readers worldwide.
The new service is in beta and available to select KDP authors. It supports translations between English and Spanish, and from German to English. Kindle Translate makes it easier and more affordable for independent authors to reach readers worldwide.
“With less than 5% of titles on Amazon.com available in more than one language, this launch opens up massive new opportunities for authors to connect with readers worldwide,” said Amazon in an official announcement.
How Kindle Translate Works
Authors can manage translations through the KDP portal by choosing target languages, setting prices, and publishing formatted eBooks in just a few days. Each translation is checked for accuracy before it goes live, and authors can preview or auto-publish their finished books.
Translated books will be labelled as Kindle Translate editions in the Amazon store and will include sample previews so readers can check the translation quality. These books are also eligible for KDP Select and Kindle Unlimited, helping authors reach more readers and increase their earnings.
For years, independent authors have faced difficulties finding reliable and affordable translation options,” said Dr. Gaurav Gulati, founder of WorldAuthors.org. “Kindle Translate finally makes it possible to share our stories with readers across the world, a true win for both writers and readers.”
Kindle Translate reinforces Amazon’s commitment to empowering independent authors and promoting literary accessibility across languages. The company plans to expand language support in future updates to enable more authors to share their work with global audiences.
With AI-driven translation, free access for indie authors, and integrated publishing tools, Kindle Translate marks a major milestone in making the world of books truly borderless, where every story can find its reader, no matter the language.
